Trumps 2nd Term

During the June 20th episode of Last Week Tonight on HBO, John Oliver paints a picture of Trump's 2nd term and his next administration as designed by the folks at Project 2025.  With deep links to conservative organizations and fueled by former members of Trumps administration, Project 2025 is essentially a government in waiting for Trumps second term.

Project 2025 Quotables

"I will sign a bill establishing that the only genders recognized by the US government are male and female."
-Donald Trump

"The radical left invented trans people just a few years ago."

"You grab illegal immigrants and move them to the staging grounds and that's were the planes will be waiting for federal law enforcement to move them to their home country"
-Stephen Miller

"With a nearly 1,000-page "Project 2025" handbook and a large group of Americans, the goal is to have the civic infrastructure ready on Day One to take control, restructure, and eliminate what Republicans refer to as the "deep state" bureaucracy, in part by terminating up to 50,000 federal workers."

Project 2025 is built upon four pillars and will become the foundation for the next Trump administration.

Project 2025 is structured around four main pillars:

  1. Policy Agenda: This pillar is centered on a comprehensive policy guide called "Mandate for Leadership: The Conservative Promise." It offers specific proposals for major issues facing the country, drawing expertise from across the conservative movement.
  2. Personnel Database: This pillar aims to identify and compile a list of at least 10,000 conservatives from various backgrounds who could potentially serve in a future conservative administration. The goal is to have the right people ready to implement the policy agenda.
  3. Training: This pillar focuses on preparing potential appointees for government roles. It involves bringing together experts who have served in previous administrations to share their knowledge through workshops, seminars, online videos, and mentorship programs.
  4. 180-Day Playbook: This pillar outlines specific actions to be taken in the first 180 days of a new conservative administration. It includes comprehensive transition plans for each federal agency, aiming to quickly implement conservative policies.

Project 2025 outlines plans to confront what it refers to as "woke left" policies. Some key highlights include:

  1. Dismantling diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives in government agencies, particularly at the Pentagon. The plan calls for "abolishing" recent DEI efforts in the military. 1
  2. Targeting higher education institutions, which the project describes as being "captured by woke 'diversicrats'" and promoting a "woke agenda." It proposes significant changes to the current system of colleges and universities. 2
  3. Eliminating certain terms from federal laws and regulations, including "sexual orientation," "diversity, equity, and inclusion," "gender equality," "abortion," and "reproductive rights". 3
  4. Restructuring the Department of Education, which the project refers to as a "convenient one-stop shop for the woke education cartel".
  5. Replacing thousands of federal employees with conservative appointees who align with the project's ideology. The plan calls for "flooding the zone with conservatives" in government positions. 4
  6. Overhauling the Department of Justice, including curbing its independence and ending FBI efforts to combat the spread of misinformation.
  7. Reinstating military service members who were discharged for refusing the COVID-19 vaccine.
  8. Promoting conservative values in education, including advocating for school choice and increased parental control over schools.
  9. Using welfare funds (TANF) to promote traditional marriage and family formation.

The project consistently uses terms like "woke progressivism," "woke culture warriors," and "woke extremism" throughout its documentation, framing its agenda as a direct counter to these perceived threats. It's important to note that these proposals are part of a conservative think tank's vision and would face significant legal and political challenges if implemented.
